If you’re experiencing a non-life-threatening injury or illness that requires urgent care and cannot wait for a standard GP appointment, but does not require hospital treatment, Inner Brisbane Urgent Care Clinic can help.
Co-located with QUT Medical Centre Kelvin Grove, the Urgent Care Clinic offers bulk-billed, walk-in care for patients with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.
Care is provided in a general practice setting, allowing you to receive timely treatment without the delays often associated with a hospital emergency department.
Conditions that may require urgent medical care include minor fractures, sprains and pain, minor infections, mild burns, respiratory illnesses, sexually transmitted infections, severe abdominal pain, or urinary tract infections. Additional examples are outlined below.
Surge protocol disclaimer
The Inner Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has a ‘surge protocol’ like many others in Australia and New Zealand. If the number of patient presentations overwhelms the 1 doctor – 1 nurse – 1 receptionist model which can be unsafe, or, if there are more presentations able to be seen before closing, we will go into ‘surge protocol’. Patients will then be triaged by the nurse and if safe, referred to other medical services (e.g. emergency department) or asked to return for consultation at a later time, or even the next day.
Appointments
Walk-in only. All patients are clinically triaged on arrival and seen in order of clinical priority.
As we are a bulk-billing clinic, please bring your Medicare card with you.
We offer in-house x-ray facilities, and pathology collection (subject to operational hours).
